3-Day Huchuy Qosqo Trek to Machu Picchu
Day 1: Cusco – Qoricocha – Huchuy Qosqo
Start your journey with breakfast in a local home in Huillcapata. Hike past scenic Andean landscapes and the beautiful Qoricocha (Golden Lake), crossing two high passes and following the original Inca Trail to reach Huchuy Qosqo. Camp overnight near the ancient Inca site.

Day 2: Huchuy Qosqo – Lamay – Maras Salt Mines – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
Explore the Huchuy Qosqo ruins, then descend to the Sacred Valley and lunch in Lamay. Afterward, visit the famous Maras Salt Mines, explore Ollantaytambo, and take the train to Aguas Calientes for a hotel stay.

Day 3: Machu Picchu – Cusco
Catch an early bus to Machu Picchu to see the sunrise (weather permitting) and enjoy a 2-hour guided tour. Optional hikes to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain available. Return to Aguas Calientes for lunch, then take the train and bus back to Cusco, arriving around 8 p.m.

Send us your main Departure date and back up date: By providing us with a main date and a back up date for your trek (classic Inca Trail, Lares, Salkantay, etc) you automatically authorize Quinoa Expeditions to use either of these dates for your reservation. Quinoa Expeditions within the next 24 hours (after you have sent us your booking form and confirm deposit was made) will send you an electronic receipt confirming your trek has been officially booked and also to confirm the exact departure date of your trek.

Send us your Personal Details for Booking: Your passport number and other information must be valid. Please advise if you change your passport number after booking the tour (especially for booking the classic Inca Trail as if we do not make a change in your official details, you may not be permitted to do the trek). Please Note changing passports’ numbers requires an extra fee (we are able to change passports numbers easily on our receipt but its also extremely important that we make the changes with the Inca Trail authorities)

Student rate: In order to obtain this discount you must have a valid ISIC card. It is important you scan and e-mail this to us at the time of booking and that it is valid on the date you are booked on the Inca Trail/alternative trek (you will need to show the real ISIC card upon your arrival here in Cusco and in Machu Picchu).

Payment of deposit: For any of our Adventure treks ending in Machu Picchu.

US$ 275 per person for the Huchuy Qosqo Trek + Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu climbing.Please confirm if you want to climb Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu as they need to be booked well in advance too; there are 2 time sessions:
7 – 8am or 10 – 11am – this also needs to be specified although you need to be flexible to either time.
Please note, if you get the permits for the 7am start you will probably have to miss the Machu Picchu guided tour.

Important Information – Quinoa Expeditions: Huchuy Qosqo Trek
Arrival & Briefing:
You’ll be picked up from Cusco airport and taken to your hotel. A mandatory pre-trek briefing takes place at 6pm the night before at your Hotel or Quinoa Office.

Luggage Storage:
Main luggage can be stored at our office or your hotel. During the trek, porters will carry your duffel (max 7kg). Keep daily essentials in a 30L backpack.

Booking Process:
To book, complete the form online and provide personal details for each participant. A $211 USD deposit is required via PayPal or VISA.

Balance Payment:
Pay in cash (USD or soles) at our office to avoid fees, or pay online with a 5.5% processing charge.

Passport Requirement:
You must bring your original passport, matching the one used for booking. If you renew your passport, bring both old and new, or pay a $25 USD change fee.

Weather & Altitude:
Expect variable weather; dress in layers and bring rain gear. Spend 2–3 days acclimatizing in Cusco or the Sacred Valley before the trek. Coca tea, water, and oxygen are used to manage altitude sickness.

Trek Difficulty:
The trek is moderate, covering 20 km and reaching altitudes of 4,200m (13,779ft). Good fitness and preparation are recommended.

If You Can’t Finish the Trek:
Emergency support will be provided. If you recover quickly, you may continue the trip to Machu Picchu at your own expense. No refunds for early exits.

End of Trek:
You’ll be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley at the end of the tour.

Train Schedule:
Train back from Aguas Calientes usually departs around 14:55 or 15:20, based on availability.

Tipping:
Tips are optional but greatly appreciated by staff for excellent service.
